The Artist In Gold

Last time I went to Thailand, I mailed myself home a large box of Thai costume jewelry, used in traditional dances. I used them to make this golden costume, meant to be worn at Burning Man, in the procession of Golden  Boys. Here I am modeling my costume in the studio, shortly before Burning Man, about three years ago!

Goodbye To My Sweet Love

I haven’t posted on the blog in nearly a week; my apologies! My life has been a little sadder than usual; my beautiful Elias and I parted ways last week, and I was too sad to do much of anything. 

I’ll be posting some new stuff on the blog very soon.

New Work

Yay! When I moved to Mexico, I lost my password to my blog, and was subsequently unable to change the password because I didn't have an American phone number. Which is why I haven't updated it in so long. But I just now, on my American vacation, figured it out, and I can post again!

I recently finished "Pillow Poem 21," a japanese Shunga painting of two boys making love while riding horseback through the waves of a turbulent sea.

I had a photo shoot with Danimal a couple of months back for my painting "Hood Ornaments." At the same time, I took photos for a bunch of other projects as well; I knew I wanted to make this painting, so I had taken photos then as well. First, I had already downloaded photos of horses in the poses I wanted; I photographed us making love in the proper poses to be able to photoshop us onto the back of a horse later; below is the finished stock photo of us on the back of the horse.

Than I drew us on handmade bamboo paper from China using vegetable ink and a fine brush. Below is a photo of the painting in progress. Finally, when the ink drawing was complete, I painted it with watercolors.
