Vitruvian man

I just started a new commission;  a nude self portrait as Leoardo da Vinci's "Vetruvian Man." I am excited about it - I think its going to be very beautiful.  I am painting the self portrait from a reflection in the mirror;  usually, I would just use my twin brother as the model (its kind of cheating, I know, but we look the same, so I might as well draw him) but he's in Italy right now, and won't be back for a little bit.  So the mirror it is.

The big blue drawing behind the one I am working on is a portrait of my boyfriend, also named Felix, which I am also working on right now.

The study for the final painting.  This is a small watercolor painting which I am going to transfer to canvas to make the painting in oil.

Dante Draws Dante as Bacchus

Dante models as the Dionysus the ancient Greek god of the grape harvest, wine, and of ritual madness and ecstasy. He was also known as Bacchus.  Dionysus was to mingle the music of the aulos and to bring an end to care and worry.  He also presides over communication between the living and the dead. The only thing Felix likes more then mythology is drawing live models posing as Greek gods.  These photos are on auction in eBay right now! Go check it out.

The Vaselines just put out a new album Sex with an X and you should listen to it.  The entire album is great and sounds just like their original recordings in the 80's.  I highly recommend it!
