So I was hanging out with my friend Giacomo, weeping into my wine about the sad fate of my relationship with Felix Forrest. He thought that the best remedy is some sex to distract the mind, so we went out on the prowl that very night. It was hard not to think about Felix; we weren't much for going out, but I find him so beautiful, so delightful, that I really don't want anyone else. I was wearing a hot pink corduroy suit I made to cheer myself up; the good thing about eccentric and colorful clothing is that it makes it easy for interested boys to hit on you. A handsome man commented on my suit; we were passionately kissing moments later. It wasn't long before we were in a taxi on the way to his house, scandalizing the taxi driver. And its true; I forgot all about The Other Felix, at least for a little while. Our lovemaking was beautiful; we had a wonderful time. But after he fell asleep, I quietly wept on my side of the bed, because his body wasn't that body I know so well and so passionately desire, his voice was not that voice which echoes in my mind as the very sound of love.

In the morning we started talking in bed; I showed him my website and paintings when he wanted to know what it is I do, and I showed him my blog, since of course I started talking about Felix and he wanted to know what he looked like. He was enamored; he wanted to model and be on my blog, right away. So we hopped out of bed, he grabbed his camera, and got his roommate to take some pictures of us nuzzling and kissing and, well, things got out of hand. And maybe I forgot all about Felix Forrest again for a few minutes.

I was cleaning off my desktop today and found these random photos of my ex-boyfriend that I had been setting aside in a folder because I thought he looked so cute in them. Of course, they made me totally sad, but I thought I would post them and share them with you.

In the photo above, he is at Cazadero, at a camping party with friends. It was one of the most beautiful weekends I have ever had - and it was during his first trip to visit me in San Francisco; my love knew no bounds.

Here is a painting I did of the two of us that weekend. I can remember perfectly the feeling of kissing him there; his hand is on my ass and mine on his, while my friend Pico took this picture. I got totally excited just moments after the photo upon which this painting is based was taken; well, so did he. His body always felt so perfect in my arms; it was like an extension of my own. I felt that I could take hold of him and I knew precisely how it made him feel, that his dick was mine and the sensations it produced in him I felt. Our kisses were electric, my entire body set aflame.

Anyway, here he is, unusually coy in both of these photos.

A Broken Heart

I just broke up with my boyfriend Felix Forrest yesterday. I knew it was coming, but it is unbelievably sad; I loved him so much. But such is life; I have so many beautiful paintings of him and of the two of us as a couple; looking at them breaks my heart; in fact, this whole blog for the last year and half is filled as much with him as it is with me. I know we will be friends in the long run, but for now, it all feels so hopeless and sad. In my paintings of us we will always be young, fresh, happy and in love. Its beautiful and so fortunate that I have the gift to memorialize these emotions, if only in the fantasy of art. I will miss you Felix.

A drawing of Felix as Anteros, one of the ancient Greek gods of love. I painted it from life over a 10 hour period. Well, really longer, since I couldn't keep my hands off him and every time he came over I could only get in about an hour before, well, I got distracted.

I met Sam at a bookstore a few weeks ago; he had a boyfriend, and they were obviously a couple. This, of course, means nothing, since almost every gay couple I know is most definitely not exclusive. But in the course of our photo and drawing session, it turned out that he was very unhappy with his boyfriend; I felt so sad for him, and naturally more than a little pleased for myself. A typical day in the Studio

A couple of my friends came over today while I was in the middle of painting my good friend A. I love photos of naked boys and clothed boys together - it sets off the nudity so beautifully, and makes A. look just that much lovelier. So of course I whipped out my camera, and A. was only too happy to oblige.

Sadly, A, who is one of my favorite models and best friends, is moving to Berlin! So my days of enjoying his sweet company in my studio are drawing to a close. But I have until this summer, so expect lots more photoshoots and drawings of sweet beautiful A, as well as Hamisi, and the other charming boy in all their clothes, who also model for me (well, Hamisi models for me - the other one does not know he models for me yet!)

Sweet Sweet Love

I met my beautiful boyfriend Felix Forrest a year and a half ago in Tennessee; on his first trip out to see me, and also his first visit to San Francisco, I tried to arrange the most spectacular sex romp he had ever been on. I went to the Yuba river on the Eastern side of Northern California with some friends and my lovely boyfriend, Felix Forrest Wolf, this past summer. Now that the sad, long days of Winter are upon us, I spent this chilly morning looking at photos taken this past summer, of all of us frolicking naked in the clear waters of the Yuba. It was such a lovely trip; a full week, of nothing but basking in the sun and playing in the river. Here are some photos.

The gentleman in the photo above was a hiker who walked past our campsite on the river. We walked past us just a he is in the photo above - quite naked. I was naturally charmed. He and I and Felix Forrest decided to go for a walk back down the river, and the photo above is of my view as I walked along behind him, with Felix on the path behind me. The three of us ended up making love on the rocks, on a little island in the middle of the river; it was so beautiful. New Oh! Flyer

I just did the flier for the Oh! party for March (naturally, on a Saint Patrick Day theme, with red head, freckles, and all!). My friend Brendan came by to pose for a drawing we were working on, and since he's one of the boys who throws the party, I took pictures with the timer of the two of us for the flier. I turned him into an Irish boy, of course. Photos from the session follow below.

Our simulated blow job. I wanted to use this pose, which would have been more graphic, but last time the flier was removed from facebook and it affected attendance at the party, so it needs to be more tame, unfortunately.

At the end, I took some photos for another project I am working on, which is a commission to paint the twelve boy scout rules in a homoerotic style. This one is for "The Scout is Helpful." In the final painting, I will be wearing a full boy scout uniform (I am the one kneeling on the sofa) and Brendan will be partly dressed, with his shirt open, hat askew, and pants around his ankles. Self-Portrait as Vitruvian Man - Almost Finished!

So I continued work on the commission for my Self-Portrait as Vitruvian Man today. I got it to a point very close to done; it is what I did all day. I spent the first 40 minutes or so working on the face. I had the mirror up close so I could see detail. I first mixed up a light pink, a midtone that had more red and brown in it, and then brushed on the shadows with burnt umber.

The rest of the figure followed in the same way - the shadows brushed on first, and the lights second, in big broad strokes which were then refined. I worked from the top down and from left to right, so that I would have a place to rest my hand without putting it on the wet paint.

It was also a very cold day today! The sun was out and shining, but I was chilled to the bone, and as my studio is so large, its impossible to heat. Hence the robe which I put on whenever I was working on something I didn't have to reveal!

Here I am, contemplating the almost finished painting.

And the painting as it appeared at the end of the day. On Monday, I will add tone to the background to help bring out the light side, and I will darken some of the shadows on his body. I couldn't do it today, because the light side is basically just paint and oil, and it does not stick very well to the surface; any time I add more paint to darken it, it just picks up the paint under. But the painting is very close to done - I'm thinking no more than a couple of hours of work!

Old Friends And Naked Boys

I went through some of my old photoshoots today, looking for inspiration for some new pieces, and came across this one of two very good friends of mine; Steven (he is the cute little blond boy, and he appeared here on the blog recently as the naked cupid at my party) and Jesse. This photo shoot is a few years old; they were boyfriends at the time, and this was in fact the time that I met Steven! I took a million photos, but I thought I would share of these pleasant memories with you!

Vitruvian Man Undercoat

I started actually applying paint to the Vitruvian man Self-Portrait today. It was an rather cool today, so I started out in a sweater (I knew I was going to get naked soon so there wasn't much point in wearing more). I had already drawn the outlines of the figure in brown ink on the paper. They are very sparse, bare outlines. Then I mixed up some red ochre and van dyke brown in oil, and put it on in big globs. I rubbed it into the paper with a rag. I did this until I got a nice, richly textures surface, with paint sinking into the grooves in the gesso.

Than I moved all the way around in the studio, and set everything up in the other side so the light would be right. This was kind of an experimental technique, which did not turn out as I had hoped. I was planning on doing a large part of the painting today, and was going to start painting the skin colors directly onto the wet brown undercoat When I tried doing this though, the paint picked up the brown coat and left it white on the bottom. It was not going according to plan. So I think I need to let this layer dry and come back to work on it early next week. At any rate, the undercoat looks wonderful; I think its going to be a beautiful piece!

More Studio Work

I am working on a portrait of my boyfriend right now, which will be a 10 hour pose, most likely. I am painting him as the Greek god of fidelity in love, which is rather ironic.

Progress tends to be rather slow.

I also started work on the final version of the Vitruvian Man painting. These photos were taken the day before yesterday; today, I actually started applying paint. A couple of days ago, I transfered the study I did last week to the paper. First I printed the drawing on a large sheet of paper which is the same size as the final painting. Than I covered the back in black charcoal, laid it over the gessoed paper, and traced the drawing with a sharp point, which effectively works like carbon paper. Finally, I outlined this tracing with brown ink. In these photos, I am covering the back of the print out with charcoal.

Today, I laid down a base coat and started painting. I will write about them in the next post!

More Work on Vitruvian Man

I worked some more (a tiny bit more) on the Vitruvian Man commission today; I am doing something a little different than what I had originally intended. It was going to be in oil on canvas, but I decided that the 17 inch size I originally specified was too small, and that the weave of the canvas would be to grainy for a finely detailed image. So instead, I am going to do my painting in oil on paper. To that end, I am gessoing the paper first, and am going to cover it with a thin film of oil paint in a brown color (maybe Van Dyke brown), and than am going to work wet into wet. I think I will do this tomorrow or the day after. For now, here are some photos of that first stage of paper preparation. I accidentally posted the photos in the wrong order, but I will explain below;

So this photo and the others with the cute boy are of myself with my friend Kale, who is staying with me for a few days before he moves to Hawaii. I had just finished gessoing in the paper (its a high quality and very stiff watercolor paper) when he got out of the shower, so he sat down to join me and see what I was up to. He is an old friend and lover, and I am super happy that he is staying with me for a few days!

In this photo and the ones below I have just finished applying the gesso to the paper. We've been having the most glorious weather here in San Francisco - I thank my stars daily that I live in California! Hence the state of undress of myself and my friend Kale.

Vitruvian man

I just started a new commission; a nude self portrait as Leoardo da Vinci's "Vetruvian Man." I am excited about it - I think its going to be very beautiful. I am painting the self portrait from a reflection in the mirror; usually, I would just use my twin brother as the model (its kind of cheating, I know, but we look the same, so I might as well draw him) but he's in Italy right now, and won't be back for a little bit. So the mirror it is.

The big blue drawing behind the one I am working on is a portrait of my boyfriend, also named Felix, which I am also working on right now.

Dante Draws Dante as Bacchus

Dante models as the Dionysus the ancient Greek god of the grape harvest, wine, and of ritual madness and ecstasy. He was also known as Bacchus. Dionysus was to mingle the music of the aulos and to bring an end to care and worry. He also presides over communication between the living and the dead. I am not totally in love with the article; the interview took place at the opening, and was rather rushed, since a nude toga party where you are the host is not really the best place to give interviews. Japanese June

It is going to be a watercolor and gouache on paper, in a fairly realistic style, and sexually explicit. I think its going to be very beautiful. my brother was the model for the drawing above;

The patrons want a more muscular and possibly hairier boy than my brother or myself, though, and they requested the beautiful man Senon as a possibility for their drawing. I had him come in today; the photographs I shot of him for this painting follow below:

These are just a sample of the poses he took; there are a good sixty photographs, and I have not yet decided which to use. The painting will be much more complex than the Japanese style drawing at the top, and will be finished within a few days, since I am going to Italy in two weeks, and I won't be able to work on it afterwards. The Castro Street Fair and a New Model

The last few days have been hectic! I had a booth at the Castro Street Fair yesterday, which did very very well, and a new model into the studio today. I've actually known him for a little bit, but today was the first day he actually came to the studio and got naked, at least by himself. We had a lovely time, and I look forward very much to painting him again in the future; expect more photos, the full story, and drawings of him soon.

I have a question for everyone. I did very well at the fair, and would like to do more - I set up a booth, met tons of people, sold lots of work. It was really fun! I would like to do more in other cities. What others are there, and when do they happen? Especially if they happen on the West Coast. And if one happens in your neighborhood, would you be interested in putting up an artist and his cute assistant for a week or so? I have been thinking of going on some road trips, and think this could be a good way to make them pay for themselves. Plus it would be fun to meet local boys and do more drawings and paintings, maybe in your house, if you are willing! If you have any ideas, write me, or post the suggestion on this blog!

Finally, I am having a show soon, at Eros, here in San Francisco. I think the opening will be on the 14th of this month, but that is not certain yet. I plan on throwing a costume party (of course) - a toga party, to be exact, and will accomplish this by stripping my boys naked and dressing the whole crew in transparent togas. Come and join us! I'll post another listing and send out invitations in a couple of days, as soon as I have it confirmed.

Astrological Commission

I got a commission recently to paint an astrological love story of a sweet gay couple, which is pictured above. They sent me the basics of what they wanted it to look like (hair color, body type, and astrological signs - one was Cancer and the other Aquarius, and one was born in the year of the horse and the other in the year of the snake), and armed with that, I set about to make their painting. First, I naturally needed to get a cute boy in the studio to set up the shoot - I knew that I would be one of the figures, but the other needed to be more muscular than myself. Luckily, Bruno happened to have a photoshoot in my studio that day with a cute ex-porn star named Fyrfly. I thought of my commission right away, as soon as I saw his muscles. I felt a little shy for some reason; I pulled out a similar drawing to the one I had in mind to paint, and I said,

"I know this is a little forward, especially since I just met you and all, but I need to do a painting of this gay couple, and you would be the perfect model for it. Do you think I could join you in the photo shoot later for this shot?" I blushed furiously at this point, "and we would need to kiss."

The words had barely left my mouth before he grabbed me by the hand and started to pull me over

"Why do we need to wait until the end of the photo shoot to start kissing?"

The photoshoot went rather downhill from there, which hardly startled Bruno, the ex-pornographer, although it may have frightened the cats. at some point I somehow managed to pull myself together and we took the photos I need, with Fyrfly seated up high on a stool so I could paint him on horseback later.

Later on, I used those photos to make this drawing as well, of a gay centaur couple! I'll be posting this in my ebay store tomorrow.

Needless to say, the shot went rather well, although I think I embarrassed Jon Carlos (my assistant) with the goings on of his boss in the studio. But I have tons of photos which will come in very useful for future drawings, and I had a lovely time with a very handsome man.

If you are interested in a commission like the one of the gay astrological nude male couple, just write me! I think something like that would make a great and very romantic gift, and it is great fun for me to do.

A Booth at the Castro Street Fair

So this weekend, I am sacrificing a fun and sun filled weekend of naked boys and country romping with my friends at Calistoga to set up a booth at the Castro Street Fair instead. I've been working like crazy pulling it together; I am hoping to convince some cute friends to model for me nude (or as nude as you can get police and weather permitting), and hopefully I can make some money and sell some art to fund an upcoming trip to visit my brother in Milan. A Bookplate Set

One of my favorite customers asked me some time ago if I had ever thought of making a set of bookplates; I made one a few weeks ago, finally, and liked it so well I decided to make a full set. You can see them below; I am selling them in my ebay store for five dollars for a sheet of six bookplates. Naturally, my webmark does not appear on the final bookplates, but is only there to protect my images.

I made them using my brother Marcel as the model; I have him a book to read, and had him hold a couple of dozen poses. The photos are low in quality, unfortunately, since it did not occur to me to share them with you until now; they were only taken as reference photos. But I think they are rather lovely. The small paintings were done in watercolor on paper.

These are some photos of Senon and his boyfriend, Danimal, making love at Cazadero, a beautiful private estate north of San Francisco. The event was 4th of July; every year, there is a private party held there, attended by Fairies and Burners, featuring costumes, naked boys, skinny dipping in mineral pools, drag queens, performances, dancing, and lots and lots of sex. The Other Felix, or My New Boyfriend

So This has been going on for about three months now, but I didn't write anything about it on the blog yet, in part because I wanted to be sure The Other Felix was cool with it, and in part because it has been so special, so beautiful, and so sublime that I wanted to keep it and savor it myself. But its been a little while now, any my exhibitionism and sunny nature are getting the better of me, and I decided it was time to stop being selfish and share him with you all! But as far as I knew, the rain was a blessing, for we found ourselves trapped in my tent, while the rain poured outside in solid sheets, and the roar of the water hitting the tarp deafened us and drowned out the sound of our ceaseless and happy lovemaking. When he left two days later - two days of the most delightful bliss in that soggy and noisy tent - I felt like crying, and hoping on a bus right away for Madison, in fact, I felt that I could never let him leave my arms.

I will write about our future meetings, in Chicago, and here in San Francisco, and about the happy news that he is moving to San Francisco later. In the meantime, here is another photo of my honey,

Today I bought this album by Big Boi that just came out. I have been listening to it all day and I defiantly recommend listening to it. This album destroyed my day with flows like "Shake it like some Texas Pete droppin on your collard greens" on ear-catching beats and plentiful hooks. Check it out!
